Der 3 jährige Junghengst Quinto wird, mit dem Kappzaum aufgezäumt, in die Longierhalle geführt. Longiert werden unerfahrene und junge, anzureitende Pferde immer zu zweit: Der Longenführer am Platz und die zweite Person, die das Pferd auf der Zirkellinie antreibt und hinter ihm her läuft. Der Junghengst darf noch in dem Tempo und der Gangart gehen, die er selbst wählt (wichtig ist natürlich, dass sich der Stallübermut durch galoppieren löst). Es kommt anfänglich darauf an, dass das junge Pferd den Vorgang des Longierens versteht. Für den Handwechsel ist es wichtig, dass der junge Hengst zum Longenführer hereinkommt, damit dieser ihm die neue Richtung vorgibt. nach der Longeneinheit muß sich der Junghengst willig aus dem Longierzirkel in seine Box zurückführen lassen. dort wird er dann natürlich ausgiebig gelobt.
